A Slice of Life – Lebanon

A friend travelling from Lebanon, got me some goodies over the Christmas weekend. I haven’t got through all of them yet – devouring my treats a little at a time. Well the edible ones can’t be prolonged forever, but I’m trying to stretch out this little slice of life from the country for as long as I can. Here are some of the “presents” I’ve tried out so far – my teeny tiny shot at the Lebanese way of life.

Baklava – a dessert pastry with origins in the Ottoman Empire.
Blueberry syrup to accompany my pancakes.
Ground Coffee-cardamom to balance out all the sweetness – traditionally served in these little cups.
The pot in which the coffee is brewed.
A book by Lebanese writer and poet Kahlil Gibran.
Food and drink as reading companions.

And there’s more. I’ll write about the remaining treats as I get through with them.
